Publication #: B-1056 Publication Author(s): |
Description:
Several bacterial diseases affect the dry bean crop in Wyoming and the Central High Plains production areas. Bacterial disease outbreaks reduce the yield and quality of a crop. Losses to the operation may range from a trace to a complete crop failure. Bacterial diseases of beans discusses the detection, cycle, and management of different bacteria infections. This five-page, full-color bulletin provides pictures that illustrate the common symptoms of bacterial diseases. "Bacterial diseases of beans are usually detected when foliar, stem, or pod symptoms are present," said author Gary D. Franc, associate professor in the UW College of Agriculture Department of Plant Sciences. "However, disease diagnosis is often complicated by plant injury from wind or other factors.
