![]() | Cover Crops for Wind Erosion Protection of Sugar Beets | |
Publication #: B-1052 Publication Author(s): |
Description:
Wind erosion influences the growth of sugar beets on lighter textured soils. Cultural practices that leave residue on the surface appear to have the greatest potential for minimizing this erosion problem. But with preceding crops of sugar beets, beans, or corn for silage, there is not enough residue remaining to provide erosion protection. Cover crops for wind erosion protection of sugar beets discusses research that developed a sugar beet production system that uses living mulch for wind erosion protection during establishment. The four-page bulletin explains the experimental procedure and results of the research.
