Description:
With proper use trap crops, specially bred varieties of radish and mustard, have the potential for controlling sugar beet cyst nematode (SCN). Studies, that included lamb gain per acre, were conducted on five SCN-infested fields in Washakie and Big Horn counties. In four of five studies following harvest of malt barley, trap crop radish reduced the soil population of SCN 50 percent or more.
