Description:
The sugar beet nematode Herterodera schachitt is a major root parasite of the sugar beet. It causes serious stand and yield reductions wherever sugar beets are grown. It may affect an entire field or may be in one or more localized areas.This bulletin discusses the life cycle, survival in soil, host range, and damage and control issues associated with the nematode. Various control measures along with trap crops and integrated control are also described.
